The Department of Transportation supports the City’s rapidly expanding customer service effort by embracing current technology. The Department of Transportation is streamlining the permitting process with the launch of our new online application software. You can now submit right-of-way permit applications, upload required documents, pay permit invoices, and receive your permits online. 

Types of Permit issued include:

  • Lane/Sidewalk/Full Street Closures
  • Dumpster/POD Placement
  • Haul Route
  • Oversize/Overweight Vehicles
  • Qualified Contractors
  • Small Cell
 

This is for Non-Franchise companies working in the City of Atlanta's Right-of-Way.
However, for any road that was recently paved within the last 3 years, the required restoration is to mill and or overlay 100 feet each side of the trench for the full width of the lane, lanes. >>>Click Here For List of Streets<<<

  • IF YOUR WORK REQUIRES EXCAVATION OR DIGGING IN THE CITY RIGHT OF WAY. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU MUST SUBMIT TWO SEPARATE APPLICATIONS A LANE/SIDEWALK/FULL STREET CLOSURE PERMIT APPLICATION AND A QUALIFIED CONTRACTORS PERMIT APPLICATION. SEE USEFUL DOCUMENTS FOR CHECKLISTS.
 
  • SIDEWALK CLOSURE LASTING LONGER 45 DAYS MUST COMPLY WITH THE DPW PEDESTRIAN ACCOMMODATION & WORK ZONE POLICY (SEE USEFUL DOCUMENTS). CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE, SIDEWALK QUESTIONNAIRE AND PEDESTRIAN PLAN MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH PERMIT REQUEST APPLICATION,
   
A notarized affidavit and a copy of identification is required for all applications - please see the useful documents section on this page

 
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 5:00 pm, except for holidays. NOTE: Permits will not be processed on weekends or holidays.
